Question/Answer Post #2

Hiya guys!  Happy New Year!!  J

So to recap, about one month ago, I mentioned I would do a sort of question-answer type post every now and again.  Basically this would be to answer questions I get asked on how to do some creative DIY things.

In my first question-answer post - where I answered a friend’s question about Water Marble nail art - I mentioned another question I still had to answer and that I would deal with after Christmas.  So, as promised, here it is…

This question was ‘How do I go about dying glass jars?’ ‘...they are going to be used to put tea light candles in…

I did a wee bit of research on how to do this, again on Pinterest – totally prefer this to Google because I can pin what I find onto my DIY board – and found one way you can dye jars using just food colouring, glue and water (the link to the blog I got the information from is at the end of this post, if you want step-by-step instructions).

Sounds pretty simple and easy, right?  Well, here’s what happened when I gave it a go…

…it never worked out!  I’m actually a wee bit sad that it didn’t!

I have to say, I never even got to the stage of putting it in the oven, because the first half of the project failed! L

I did however find another way to create the candle holder jars - not exactly by dying the jars, but something similar…

I saw this on Pinterest, and it’s a lovely idea!  You basically just fill the jar with as much water as you like, dye it with food colouring to get the desired colour, then use floating candles!

(Note: Obviously take care when using matches and lighting candles!!)

In my opinion this is much easier and a lot more cost effective as you don’t need glue, while still getting the colour in the jar.

Apologies if this didn’t actually help with your question, pal!  You should still try and give it a go for yourself anyway, because you never know, it could work out for you!  However, if it doesn’t, hopefully I’ve given you another idea you can use!

Anyway guys, that’s all I’ve got for this post!  I’ll catch up with you all next Sunday with my usual weekly post!

Have a fab week!  Take care!  xxx
